Expanded Cardiac/Vascular Screening

Description: Vascular Lab - Access through main entrance of the new Regional Heart Institute building on the corner of 3rd Ave. and 29th St.; take elevators to the first floor.

Fee: $45 for each test or $99 for three-test package (cash or check ? no credit cards).

Registration required; call (304) 526-1492. You must have an appointment to be screened. Note: Registration is limited.

Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) Screening utilizes doppler ultrasound probe and blood pressure cuffs to screen for narrowing or clogging in the arteries that carry blood to the legs or arms.

Carotid Artery Screening utilizes ultrasound technology to screen for plaque buildup in the neck; a major risk factor for stroke.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening (AAA) utilizes ultrasound technology to check for an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta. Most people who have a AAA have no symptoms. A ruptured AAA is usually fatal.
