The Joslin Diabetes Center education affiliate at St. Mary's is a partner of the world-renowned Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston www.joslin.org, an international leader in diabetes treatment, research, and education.
Individuals educated at Joslin receive the benefit of millions of dollars worth of research.
How St. Mary's Can Help
We are here to help patients with diabetes management issues, to answer questions and to work with patients and their physicians to find solutions to individual concerns. Ask your doctor to refer you to Joslin or call our center to request an information packet. Once we have the referral from your physician, we can work to schedule you for classes or an individual consultation.
The Joslin Diabetes Center education affiliate at St. Mary's is accredited by the American Diabetes Association and is Medicare-approved. Most insurance providers offer benefits for diabetes education. Check with your insurance company regarding coverage.

Pat Swain
RN, BSN, CDE
Pat Swain is the diabetes education program coordinator at the Joslin Diabetes Center Education Affiliate at St. Mary's Medical Center. She has over 25 years' experience in diabetes care, having worked in the tri-state area with two other medical groups. Pat has worked at St. Mary's Joslin affiliate since January, 2000.
"I truly enjoy helping people with diabetes learn the skills and knowledge needed to manage their disease.
Most importantly, it gives me the opportunity to develop a very special, caring relationship with people with diabetes and help someone every day to somehow makes their lives better," Swain said.
Megan Daniel
RD, LD, CDE
Megan Daniel is a diabetes nutrition educator at the Joslin Diabetes Center Education Affiliate at St. Mary's Medical Center. She has worked in the healthcare field as a dietitian for over five years and has instructed patients at the Joslin affiliate for almost two years.
"Being a nutrition educator for the Joslin Diabetes Center is truly an amazing opportunity. Education is the key to managing and preventing diabetes and heart disease. I truly enjoy the interaction with people attending the Joslin classes," Daniel said.
