DaVinci Si HD Robotic Surgery System

St. Mary’s Medical Center is proud to offer patients and the community one of the most advanced methods of treatment for many challenges that are faced today. The daVinci Si High Definition Robotic Surgery System allows surgeons in many disciplines to provide outstanding and efficient care with the device. The daVinci Si HD Robotic Surgery System significantly reduces many risks that patients face in the areas of infections and other complications thanks to its minimally invasive nature. While there are many applications for the system, the experienced and talented surgeons at St. Mary’s have most recently used the system to benefit patients within the St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center and the Obstetrics and Gynecological areas of the medical center.

The Obstetrics and Gynecological area of St. Mary’s Medical Center, led by Dr. Allan Chamberlain, are now using the daVinci Si HD Robotic Surgery System to assist women who are in need of a hysterectomy. Dr. Amber Kuhl and Dr. Steven Brumfield have also used the new system with success in this area. The system allows for the highest possible definition available for robotically assisted surgical procedures and has been touted with many benefits for the patient:

In addition to the surgical applications in the Obstetrics and Gynecological areas at St. Mary’s, the daVinci Si HD Surgery System has proved extremely beneficial to cancer patients within the St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center. Dr. Nepal Chowdhury has used the system to remove lung tumors in patients facing the struggles of cancer. Dr. Chowdhury can remove cancerous(malignant) and non-cancerous (benign) tumors with this minimally invasive surgery. Previous thoracic surgery required an incision of at least 10cm and this new surgery requires only 4 minute incisions. This allows the patient and surgeon to receive many benefits:
