Neurophysiology Department

The Neurophysiology Lab offers a wide range of diagnostic testing for neurological conditions. This specialty lab is staffed by skilled technicians with state-of-the-art equipment to offer the following tests:

• Electroencephalogram (EEG)
• Electromyography (EMG)
• Somatosensory Evoked potentials (SSEP)
• Otoacoustic Emission (OAE)
• Intraoperative monitoring
• Continuous EEG monitoring

The neurophysiology department at St. Mary’s is able to monitor the brain minute by minute with equipment specifically designed for and dedicated to continuous electroencephalographic (CEEG) monitoring. This technology allows physicians and staff to view a patient’s brain activity for extended periods of time to detect abnormalities in function before irreversible damage occurs. It also assists physicians in making timely decisions about treatment and provides a means of evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
