Purpose:
Management of stroke and neurological disease and injury requires an organized approach across multiple specialties and services. The purpose of this conference is to provide a venue for multidisciplinary collaboration and sharing of information with the goal of improving care for these patients.
Target Audience:
Nurses, therapists, allied health professionals
Conference Objectives:
The participant will be able to:
- Understand the challenges in providing the latest stroke evidence-based practice for optimal outcomes across the continuum of care.
- Describe their crucial roles as they apply to infection prevention.
- Discuss the incidence, prevalence, and current treatment of normal pressure hydrocephalus.
- Discuss current trends in the management of Myasthenia Gravis and Guillian Barré.
- Utilize evidence-based practice in managing the patient with increased intracranial pressure.
- Describe advancements in radiographic imaging in the neuroscience patient.
- Explain contemporary and emerging strategies in the management of multiple sclerosis.
- Identify the role of the physiatrist in the development and management of a spine center.
- Understand individualized treatment programs for the various balance disorders, including vestibular retraining programs.
- Discuss the modi able risk factors for delirium as well as the importance of delirium monitoring in the ICU setting.
