St. Mary's Regional Cancer Center to Host Free Prostate Screening
St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center will have its annual free prostate cancer screening on Friday, September 11, 2009, from 8:30 a.m. until 12 Noon in the Radiation Oncology area. Appointments are required by calling Central Scheduling at St. Mary’s Medical Center at 304-526-1492.
Radiation Oncology is located at the back side of the main hospital across form the former School of Nursing building.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) reports that all men are at risk for prostate cancer with that risk increasing with age and family history of the disease. Statistics from ACS estimates that in 2008 there were 186,320 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States. These same estimates include 28,660 deaths occurring from prostate cancer in the United States alone, making it the second leading cause of cancer death in men.
