Laboratory Services

St. Mary’s Laboratory is a multi-service clinical laboratory that performs more than 100,000 tests per month. The lab is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide testing for patients and the community. St. Mary’s also provides 24/7 laboratory services at the St. Mary’s Medical Campus in Ironton, Ohio, to support the emergency department there, as well as area physicians.

St. Mary’s Laboratory provides testing in the areas of microbiology, virology, serology, immunology, blood bank, chemistry, toxicology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, parasitology, flow cytometry and molecular biology. The lab also serves as a teaching facility for students from area universities, community colleges and technical or career centers who are studying to become medical laboratory technologists, medical laboratory technicians, clinical laboratory assistants and phlebotomists.

The Laboratory actively supports St. Mary’s commitment to community service through health fair participation, educational offerings at area schools and colleges, wellness blood profiles, blood drives for the American Red Cross and community education.
