Marshall Health Network announces new leadership appointments

Marshall Health Network (MHN) has named three leaders to vice president roles, further aligning its leadership team to support continued advocacy, brand advancement and growth across the system.

Kathy Cosco has been named vice president of government and external affairs. In this role, she serves as MHN’s liaison for federal, state and local government relations, building partnerships with key stakeholders and advocating for policies that support the system’s mission. Cosco brings more than 36 years of experience in public policy, government relations and strategic communications, including leadership roles with Frontier Communications, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and the West Virginia Office of the Governor. She began her career in health care with Cabell Huntington Hospital and returned to MHN in 2021, most recently serving as director of government and external affairs since 2024. Cosco’s experience across health care and public affairs helps advance MHN’s engagement with communities and policymakers across the region.

Sheanna M. Spence has been named vice president of marketing and communications, overseeing marketing, communications, digital engagement and brand strategy across Marshall Health Network and the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She brings 20 years of experience and most recently served as chief marketing officer for Marshall Health, MHN’s integrated physician practice, and the School of Medicine. Since joining the organization in 2015, she has held a series of progressive leadership roles. Her prior experience includes communications, development and community outreach roles with Mountwest Community & Technical College and The Education Alliance. A graduate of Marshall University and Ohio University, Spence has been named to The State Journal’s 40 Under 40 and West Virginia Executive’s Young Guns and remains active in professional and community organizations.

Lisa Chamberlin Stump has been named vice president of market intelligence and system initiatives at Marshall Health Network. In this new role, she will lead systemwide market intelligence, analytics and cross-functional initiatives that support long-range planning, service line growth and network development. Her work will help translate market data, trends and community insights into information that supports informed decision-making across the health system. Stump joined MHN in 2012, serving as the chief strategy officer since 2018, and brings 34 years of health care leadership experience across four health systems. Stump holds dual Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science in Health Administration and is certified in strategic planning. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, where she was honored with the Regent’s Award, and is active with several community nonprofit and civic boards.
