Angie Swearingen has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) for St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC), a member of Mountain Health Network (MHN).

As St. Mary’s  COO, Swearingen will lead the operational activities of SMMC and serve on the MHN senior team. She will help drive the operational goals for SMMC; ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies is maintained; oversee hospital properties and construction; collaborate with physicians, staff, and the community; and work with MHN and Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) leadership to advance the Mission and Vision of MHN. She succeeds Todd Campbell, who announced his departure in November and completed his 20-year service to St. Mary’s on Jan. 21.

“Angie’s experience, organization, and financial acumen have been and will continue to be tremendous assets to St. Mary’s ,” stated Kevin W. Yingling, RPh, MD, CEO, MHN and president of CHH and SMMC. “Angie is well prepared for her new role, and I look forward to her contributions to both St. Mary’s and Mountain Health.”

Swearingen has served as the SMMC Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for the past 11 years. She has over 25 years of health system and hospital experience through positions with Tenet Healthcare in Hilton Head, South Carolina; Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Lewisburg, West Virginia; St. Francis Hospital in Charleston; and Raleigh General in Beckley.

Swearingen received her master’s degree in healthcare administration and her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Marshall University. She is a member of the West Virginia Healthcare Financial Management Association and West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the board of the West Virginia Hospital Association. Swearingen is active in the community as she serves on the Marshall University College of Business Advisory Board and Executive Committee, the Provider Response Organization for Addiction Care and Treatment (PROACT) Board and Executive Committee, the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Board and Executive Committee, the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center Board and the West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program Advisory Board.

“St. Mary’s is a special place built upon a foundation of faith by the Pallottine Missionary Sisters,” Swearingen said. “It is exciting, as we approach the 100-year anniversary of St. Mary’s, to be leading this organization to further the Mission of the Sisters and continue our work with Mountain Health leadership on creating a regional health care destination.”

Rob Kaczmarczyk will fill the Vice President of Finance role for SMMC. After joining SMMC in 2015, Kaczmarczyk served as the Director of Decision Support and, most recently, the Director of Finance. Prior to joining SMMC, he served as the Director of Decision Support for Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Kentucky; and worked in health care finance positions in Michigan.
