The Mountain Health Network (MHN) board of directors voted at its October meeting to adopt a new operating model for the system’s leadership, representing the next phase of integration for the system.
Effective February 1, 2021, Mike Mullins, FACHE, will serve as the system’s sole president and chief executive officer (CEO) to more effectively represent his leadership of the health care system. As before, the top leaders at Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center will each continue to have a direct reporting relationship to the system president and CEO under new designations as chief operating officers.
The new operating model is the next phase of management reorganization within the health care system. Since the system was established in 2018, the focus has been on integrating processes, achieving efficiency commitments and enhancing quality medical care. During this next phase, Mullins’ responsibilities will shift toward continued integration of service lines and expansion of new services lines, coupled with operational accountability and responsibility.
“Despite the many obstacles the pandemic presented, Mike Mullins and his leadership team have made great strides in maintaining fiscal responsibility while forming a new health care system,” said Beth L. Hammers, chair of the CHH and MHN boards of directors. “On behalf of the board of directors, we are pleased to see this phase of the system reorganization completed and look forward to continued progress in making Mountain Health a regional health care destination for generations to come.”
In addition to implementing these changes over the next year, MHN will focus on leadership development.
