St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) will kick off its centennial celebration with a free community event Monday, Nov. 6, at 1:30 p.m. under the medical center overpass on Collis Ave. in Huntington.
The Centennial Celebration Kick-Off, which will feature remarks from a number of special guests, is open to the public. City of Huntington Mayor Steve Williams will make a special presentation and cake will be served. Merchandise featuring the centennial logo will be available for purchase.
The Pallottine Missionary Sisters opened St. Mary’s Hospital with 35 beds on Nov. 6, 1924. The kick-off will be the first event in a year-long celebration honoring the medical center’s 100 years of service.
